Fielders Choice
Some confusion exists regarding advancing runner/s after a caught fly ball. Each situation has to be assessed by the scorers dependent on fielders and runners actions after the fly ball is caught. Refer Fielders Choice Definitions Rule 2.28(b) if a play is made on another runner.
Catcher 's caught stealing
Because it was recommended in the 2003/04 season that a Pick Off by the Pitcher be included in the batting statistics as a CS the question has been raised as to why it isn't applied to the catcher as well in a 23 pick-off situation. Having reviewed the Caught Stealing Rule it has been decided that Pick-offs by the pitcher or catcher should not be recorded as a CS as neither meets the criteria for caught stealing Rule 10.07 (h) (2).
